Hi there, I’m Sarah Bryski-Hamrick.

(she/hers)

I run an online, liberation and anti-exploitation oriented therapy practice called Comradely Therapy.

My favorite moment in the therapy space is when a struggling client begins to feel more in control.

Millennials + Gen Zs come to me when they are in pain.

My work is rooted in feminist therapy, with a nice mix of trauma-informed, self-compassion, mindfulness + cognitive behavioral approaches.

I offer online therapy everywhere in Pennsylvania & Florida, and coaching internationally.

Where I Help:

Trauma + PTSD.

I am trained in EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), which is a treatment method that addresses anxiety, trauma, depression and unhappiness by finding painful, traumatic memories and reprocessing them.

My clients can gain control over how they respond to stressful situations and change.

What Makes A Good Trauma Therapist?

I use a trauma-informed approach in my daily life, making it second nature for me to provide the same support for my clients from the initial consultation to our final session together.

This approach values patience, trust and time. My primary intention when treating trauma is to come from a place of non-judgement. I never assume, I always ask, and I trust my clients.

Religious Trauma.

If you are suffering from Religious Trauma Syndrome, I can help you.

Maybe you are grieving your former community, recovering from spiritual/institutional trauma, or simply trying to find your new “meaning.” I am here to assist and support you without judgement.

Ex-Christian Therapy.

As an ex-Christian, I am able to safely help clients deprogram harmful beliefs and find a healing, safe relationship with their faith, or transition mindfully into ex-Christianity.

Anxiety + Depression.

My other primary areas of treatment include anxiety and depression, specifically symptoms that occur in response to some type of stressor or adjustment (ex. a global pandemic).

I am a believer in self-compassion, and improving one’s quality of life by addressing self-judgment and high expectations.

I approach anxiety with a neurological scope, finding ways to “rewire“ the brain via skills, exposure and support. I also focus heavily on addressing issues with the nervous system.

I utilize a cognitive behavioral therapy approach with depression, addressing negative thought patterns and skewed perceptions of the self.

Childfree Therapy.

I love helping women who have chosen to live single or childfree find their way in a world that is set up to cater to parents and partnered individuals.

Therapist Business Coaching.

Therapists are underpaid. It’s something we hear all the time. Many of us have come to accept it. We have had careers that demand sacrifice of our relationships, leisure activities + rest. I used to be like this, but not anymore.

I offered a specialized service to therapists who have been overworked, underpaid, oppressed and dismissed AKA, “The Exploited Therapist”. I help these individuals transition into private practice, liberating them from oppressive bosses, managers and supervisors.

While the title may turn you off, it cannot be denied that therapists are exploited everyday. We internalize it. This results in us being chronically underpaid and exploited throughout our entire careers, or until we burnout and decide to quit therapy all together (which I almost did 3 years ago).

If you are ready to start your own private practice, are thinking about starting your own private practice, or if you just want to talk about it with someone, I can help you.

How I Work:

Socialist therapy.

The mental health crisis that exists among millennials and Gen Zs is due in large part to capitalism. As a socialist therapist, I believe that value must come from within. I believe that community is our greatest resource.

Our culture teaches us that our value is determined by how much money we make, how exhausted we are at the end of the day and how many sacrifices we make throughout our career (AKA internalized capitalism).

Both professional and working class millennials/Gen Zs are pushed to work harder, hold unattainably high expectations for themselves and are discouraged from taking time off for vacation or illness. This negatively impacts our quality of life, relationships and physical health.

My patients and clients are taught how to value their time, have healthy expectations for themselves and practice self-compassion, all while still enjoying their work.

Whether you are a baby leftist, communist, exploring Marxism for the first time or you’re a seasoned comrade, I am here to support you.

Class conscious therapy.

My therapeutic approach is class conscious. It is anti-racist, opposing transphobia, homophobia, classism, sexism, ableism + other learned modes of hatred meant to oppress workers and the lower class.

As Marxist feminist, my patients and clients experience healing by having their observations about our culture validated, not by pushing CBT to change thoughts when class consciousness should be nurtured.

My desire is to create a safe space for trans, non-binary + LGBTQ+ individuals, BI&POC, women, those who have experienced financial and/or housing insecurity, those with invisible and visible disabilities, etc.

Teletherapy with Sarah Origins.

I came up with the idea of offering teletherapy as an exclusive service during summer of 2020. I was living in Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania was inundated with COVID-19 cases.

As I transitioned to full time remote work, I watched as cancellation and no-show rates decreased. It was a reminder that accessibility to care is a right, not a privilege.

Transition to Comradely Therapy.

TWS was formed during the summer of 2020. Most of us remember this as a time of desperation and resource depletion. Accessible, unintimidating teletherapy was what I had to offer at the time.

Like many, the last few months of 2023 brought me despair and helplessness. Clients continued to struggle under the weight of capitalism by way of impossible housing and food costs, healthcare costs, illness, student debt, workplace struggles and more.

We were expected to continue on as normal while the US funded genocide in Gaza, ramping up a longstanding ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people from their homeland.

I wanted to curate the space I created within Teletherapy with Sarah towards something even better. A space for folks who were paying attention to what was happening in the world, and where struggling to continue on as normal.

These days, the pandemic continues. Political upheaval is at the same height, but in our collective distress, it is now a constant, dull buzzing in our ears.

I had a desire to offer politicized therapy and coaching from a place of a coconspirator, someone who is in the trenches with you. A comrade.

I am one of many. And I couldn’t be more damn proud.
