My approach to Depression Therapy.

What does depression look like?

Depression can feel like despair. Feelings of isolation and sadness that are so severe, you fear you’ll never recover.

Depression can also feel like nothing. No happiness, sadness or anything in between. Just numbness.

Depression can impact your relationships, distort how you see things around you, negatively effect your job, and change your physical health.

Oftentimes, depression is misunderstood and judged by loved ones, leaving us feeling more isolated.

Depression is hopelessness. But there can be hope!

How can depression be treated?

As someone who has spent a lifetime battling depression, I understand the despair and isolation that can come with the disease.

I am here to tell you that depression can absolutely be treated. You can live the life you want, take control of your symptoms, and learn to love yourself.

Using self-compassion, mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), you will learn ways to observe depressive symptoms rather than suffer from them. You will learn how to separate yourself from your illness.

The way you view yourself, others and the world will change. You will be more open, you’ll have more energy, and you will feel better both mentally and physically.

You deserve this. You deserve peace and happiness.

Depression Therapy FAQs.

Will therapy help with depression?

When we meet, you will learn skills to manage the symptoms of your depression. This will make your days easier. You will have room to process painful trauma and stress that may accompany your depression. You will heal in ways you did not expect.

What therapy helps with depression?

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps to find and correct negative thought patterns and beliefs about yourself, others and the world. Mindfulness helps you be more in the moment and connect to what your body and mind need. EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) therapy helps to process long standing trauma, which is often connected with current depression. I specialize in both!

Why is therapy painful?

Human beings are incredibly adaptable. Throughout our lives, we will encounter traumas daily, both big and small. Because of this, we develop defense mechanisms that help us survive the pain we feel as a result of the trauma. These defense mechanisms are often not healthy, and can make us feel worse in the long run. In therapy, we will be breaking down those defenses to find where the pain lives. This can be a painful process, but it doesn’t last. The reward of relief, renewed strength and increased control is absolutely worth it.

Can anyone benefit from therapy?

Anyone can benefit from therapy as long as they are committed to growing and healing. However, to benefit from therapy you must be able to look inward and observe how your own thoughts/feelings/behaviors can be getting in your way.

How do we meet for sessions?

We will meet virtually on the platform Therapy Notes, which is an EHR system, or electronic health record. It is also utilized for scheduling, appointment reminders, paperwork and payment.

What is the cost per session?

  • 60 Minute Intake (these happen once) - $200

  • 45 Minute Therapy - $165

  • 90 Minute EMDR Therapy - $270

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance, services are cash pay only. But I highly value my clients’ time and hard earned money, so I do assist in the reimbursement process by providing superbills. Learn more about navigating out-of-network reimbursement and the benefits of seeing a cash pay therapist here.

What if I’m not a resident of Florida or Pennsylvania?

I am licensed to provide counseling in the states of Pennsylvania & Florida. For residents outside of PA and FL, I provide similar services under the label of “coaching“. Learn more here!

What is your cancellation policy?

Just as I value my clients’ time and hard earned money, I also value my own. The time we schedule together is sacred, and if you are cancelling your session with insufficient notice, you are taking time away from another client who potentially needs it. Because of this, I have a strict 48 hour cancellation policy. This means that any sessions cancelled within the 48 hour window, including “no-show“ sessions, will be charged the full rate of service.
