Coaching as Therapy

My name is Sarah and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, coach and community organizer serving clients all over the world.

I specialize in working with activists, organizers and politically left gen z/millennials who struggle with burnout, overwhelm and balance.

You may be struggling with self-doubt, doomerism and compassion fatigue. I can help with that.

I help clients dismantle the partition between health and politics, encouraging them to radically accept their whole selves as they heal. In our first few sessions, you can expect to lay a foundation of self-compassion, patience and self-care practices.

You'll learn how to lovingly and gently embrace who you are in this rapidly shifting world.

Why Coaching as Therapy?

This service is for folks that live outside of Pennsylvania and Florida, but would still like to work with me.

I help folks find their sense of purpose outside of the work, especially millennials and genz.

As someone who grew up in a working class family, I know what it is like to have your dreams muted by inaccessibility and your value stamped from the moment you’re born.

You suffer from internalized capitalism, or the idea that your value is determined by your productivity. You fear that others will discover that you are not as good as they thought you were, also known as imposter syndrome.

You want to have a better work/life balance, better relationships and a better quality of life, but you’re not sure how to get there. You’re not sure that you can get there.

In our sessions together, you will:

  • unlearn internalized capitalism, finding ways to care about and love yourself outside of your productivity and professional accomplishments

  • identify and nurture parts of your life that are neglected due to the high pressure you’re under. This may include your work/life balance, your relationships with others and your physical health.

  • explore unhelpful beliefs you hold about yourself, allowing you to find appreciation for your background and pride in what you’ve accomplished.

  • learn ways to stay in the moment and appreciate what’s around you.

  • reconnect with your values, discover what makes you, you.

We are fed the myth that working harder will always get us where we need to be. We are taught that those with financial and job insecurity have somehow brought it upon themselves, but we are not encouraged to be curious about the material conditions of an individual’s experience that may have lead them there. In turn, it is easy to hold these judgements towards ourselves.

Maybe you have met your professional goals, but your emotional health and personal life are suffering. Or perhaps you may make less than their peers because of your identity, or you can never truly “turn off“ at the end of the day.

Despite all of these factors, you may still feel that you are the problem.

Let me be very clear: you are not the problem.

The problem is the systems are are forced to live in. Systems that exploit us for our labor all day, and ask us to work harder tomorrow.

Why Comradely Therapy?

My practice is unique because I take great care to facilitate a blended trauma-informed and politicized space.

I believe you cannot have one without the other. I am passionate about this work because our world, our community and ourselves are all worth fighting for.

With 12 years of experience helping people get through the hardest times of their lives, I have found my home in treating adults with trauma.

To date, I have served clients in 5 countries across 4 continents.

My approach to coaching.

As a therapist, coach and human being, I see and feel the suffering that comes with living under capitalism daily.

My coaching clients come to me because they are tired of giving without return. They are tired of suffering mentally, emotionally and physically in systems that treat them as disposable.

As my client, you will learn how to set boundaries with others and reasonable expectations for yourself. You will finally be able to say “no” and you will feel empowered to advocate for yourself and your peers. You will find liberation both internally and externally, which benefits you, your community, your relationships and your health.

We will explore the origins of your ideas about work, leisure and goodness. You will learn to find value outside of your paycheck and we will dismantle the systems that are causing you to suffer.

Coaching as Therapy FAQs

Why Coaching as Therapy?

As I am only licensed to provide therapy in Pennsylvania and Florida, I provide services in other states and internationally under coaching. The difference? You won’t be working under my license, and you will not receive the same protections that my license offers you. You also cannot get reimbursed for out-of-network services if you are outside of PA or FL.

Are coaches worth it?

Coaches are definitely worth it. Services that provide healing, like coaching and therapy, are an investment. With the outcome of increased happiness, improved work/life balance and higher self-esteem, the investment pays off.

When should I get a therapeutic coach?

Anytime. If you are unable to find a licensed therapist that works in your state, finding a life coaching who shares your values is a great option.

What is the difference between a therapist and a coach?

A therapist is a licensed clinician trained in psychotherapy. Coaches can be certified, but it is not required.

Coaches help with actionable goals to achieve long term dreams, while therapists explore current and past issues that may be holding a client back. Therapists do not give advice, but they help a client see all the options. Coaches give feedback and provide the client with options that are proven to be effective for a successful outcome.

How will we meet?

We will use TherapyNotes for our appointments. A link will be shared through a calendar invitation.

How much do therapeutic coaching sessions cost?

  • $180 - 45 minute session

  • $320 - 80 minute session

What is your cancellation policy?

Just as I value my clients’ time and hard earned money, I also value my own. The time we schedule together is sacred, and if you are cancelling your session with insufficient notice, you are taking time away from another client who potentially needs it. Because of this, I have a strict 48 hour cancellation policy. This means that any sessions cancelled within the 48 hour window, including “no-show“ sessions, will be charged $180.
