My approach to Imposter Syndrome + Internalized Capitalism.

I help Professional Millennials from Working Class Backgrounds find their sense of purpose outside of the office.

As someone who grew up in a working class family, I know what it is like to have your dreams muted by inaccessibility. You feel like you need to prove yourself over and over again.

You suffer from internalized capitalism, or the idea that your value is determined by your productivity. You fear that others will discover that you are not as good as they thought you were, also known as imposter syndrome.

You want to have a better work/life balance, better relationships and a better quality of life, but you’re not sure how to get there. You’re not sure that you can get there.

In our sessions together, you will:

  • unlearn internalized capitalism, finding ways to care about and love yourself outside of your productivity and professional accomplishments

  • identify and nurture parts of your life that are neglected due to the high pressure you’re under. This may include your work/life balance, your relationships with others and your physical health.

  • explore unhelpful beliefs you hold about yourself, allowing you to find appreciation for your background and pride in what you’ve accomplished.

  • learn ways to stay in the moment and appreciate what’s around you.

  • reconnect with your values, discover what makes you, you.

I am not the therapist that will teach you how to be more productive. I am the therapist who will help you heal by learning to be unproductive.


What happens in therapy?

  1. First step - You check out my website and you like what you see, because you feel seen and understood.

  2. Second step - You request a free consultation, we schedule a 20 minute phone call to see if we’re a good fit.

  3. Third Step - 55 minute intake - This will be our first session together. It is a little longer than the typical 50 minute session because we will be getting to know each other. Sometimes this session can feel a little stressful because you’ll be talking about a lot of tough stuff. Don’t worry, I’ll be checking in with you regularly, and if I think you are becoming overwhelmed, I am trained to handle it gently and safely.

  4. Forth Step + beyond - 50 minute sessions - These are the sessions that occur after the intake. This is where the work is done. During these sessions we will explore what brought you into therapy, what distresses you day to day, and general themes in your life that are bringing challenges. I will ask you to bring some topics to discuss, and other important themes will come up organically. We will address your treatment goals and work towards them overtime.   5. Fifth Step - Termination - When you and I agree that your therapy goals have been fulfilled and you are ready to take a break or stop treatment.

How long do I need to be in therapy?

This answer can vary! Everyone comes to treatment with different issues, but the one thing they have in common is that they’re in pain. During our first few sessions together, we will decide on your treatment goals. As time progresses, you may hit your goals and decide that you would like to stop therapy, which is great! You may also notice that there are other issues that could be worked through in therapy, which is also great! Ultimately, you decide. I am here to support you along the way.

When should I get therapy?

Most people start therapy when they have been struggling for a long time and need help. But you certainly do not need to wait until you are without hope or in crisis. Therapy is great for any state of emotional wellness.

Is therapy worth it?

Most individuals in our culture are under the impression that surviving our day to day challenges is enough. In therapy, you can learn to not only survive your existence, but to fully live in it, and even enjoy it. So yes, therapy is absolutely worth it.

Why is therapy painful?

Human beings are incredibly adaptable. Throughout our lives, we will encounter traumas daily, both big and small. Because of this, we develop defense mechanisms that help us survive the pain we feel as a result of the trauma. These defense mechanisms are often not healthy, and can make us feel worse in the long run. In therapy, we will be breaking down those defenses to find where the pain lives. This can be a painful process, but it doesn’t last. The reward of relief, renewed strength and increased control is absolutely worth it.

Can anyone benefit from therapy?

Anyone can benefit from therapy as long as they are committed to growing and healing. However, to benefit from therapy you must be able to look inward and observe how your own thoughts/feelings/behaviors can be getting in your way.

How do we meet for sessions?

We will meet virtually on the platform Therapy Notes, which is an EHR system, or electronic health record. It is also utilized for scheduling, appointment reminders, paperwork and payment.

What if I’m not a resident of Pennsylvania?

I am licensed to provide counseling in the state of Pennsylvania. For residents outside of PA and abroad, I provide similar services under the label of “coaching“. Learn more here!

What is the cost per session?

  • 60 Minute Intake (these happen once) - $200

  • 45 Minute Therapy - $165

  • 90 Minute EMDR Therapy - $300

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance, services are cash pay only. But I highly value my clients’ time and hard earned money, so I do assist in the reimbursement process by providing superbills. Learn more about navigating out-of-network reimbursement and the benefits of seeing a cash pay therapist here.

What is your cancellation policy?

Just as I value my clients’ time and hard earned money, I also value my own. The time we schedule together is sacred, and if you are cancelling your session with insufficient notice, you are taking time away from another client who potentially needs it. Because of this, I have a strict 48 hour cancellation policy. This means that any sessions cancelled within the 48 hour window, including “no-show“ sessions, will be charged the full rate of service.
