Is Teletherapy Effective?

Teletherapy Works.

Online therapy is relatively new. Like most new things, it can be scary and people doubt it. More information is made available on the effectiveness of teletherapy every day.

Clients like that they can log on anywhere. Since millennials are dealing with high levels of stress, the accessibility is a bonus.

Teletherapy is Accessible.

There have always been barriers to accessibility with in-person therapy.

We have all been there: waiting in traffic (in your own car or public transportation), juggling a hectic schedule, non-ADA/trans safe offices/bathrooms, forgetting an appointment completely, etc.

In-person therapy used to be the only option, it was also inconvenient and the commute could even worsen symptoms. Read more about the benefits of teletherapy here.

Teletherapy is Here to Stay.

As the pandemic progressed in 2020, online therapy became the only safe option, while clients dealt with increased anxiety, depression, activated trauma and stress.

Since then, therapists and clients have both come to trust (even prefer) online therapy.

Depending on your needs, desires and your schedule, online therapy can be your best option.

Teletherapy FAQs.

Why use teletherapy?

Teletherapy is more accessible than traditional therapy. Tired of traffic, public transit or the frustrating commute to your therapist’s office? Tired of non-ADA compliant buildings and worrying if there will be trans safe bathrooms or not? Want to avoid the anxiety of masking in a waiting room or your therapist’s office? Teletherapy eliminates these issues!

Will teletherapy continue?

Because both clients and therapists alike are benefitting from teletherapy, it will most certainly continue.

Is teletherapy effective?

It is! In fact, studies are showing that teletherapy is as effective, if not more effective, than in-person therapy for most people. You can read all about the effectiveness of teletherapy.

How does teletherapy work?

Your therapy provides you with a link to your video call. You click on the link, allow access to both your video and microphone. and you’re connected! I use an online record keeping system called TherapyNotes. Through this platform, you’ll have access to your scheduled appointments, paperwork and video chat link.

Will insurance cover teletherapy?

Like with any service, insurance providers and plans all vary! As I don’t accept insurance, I provide superbills to my clients who wish to seek reimbursement for our sessions. Read about navigating out-of-network benefits here.
